Ticket Counts

Violations Recorded, Incidents Approved by Police, Citations Paid [4]

New 11-16-05

On Dec. 17, 2003, the City signed a contract with Transol.  The contract specifies that the City is to pay Transol $48 per citation paid at the court.   The system went live, with one intersection operating, on Dec. 6, 2004.  The 30-day warning period ended on Jan. 9, 2005.
In Aug. 2005, Transol was acquired by Nestor.  In a "City Council Update" dated Oct. 12, 2005, the Police Department wrote:

"Roseville's photo red light system has been shut off... and no... citations will be issued for approximately three weeks... while Nestor installs their own... software.  When the system is reactivated, we will notify the public and initiate a 30-day warning period, as we did when photo red light was first activated.  This additional 30-day warning period... is necessary because of recent court decisions."

See the table's footnotes for further details.

This table made by highwayrobbery.net, using official documents obtained under the California Public Records Act.
[  ] indicates a footnote.
[1]  Totals are as provided by the City.
[2]  YTD = Year-to-date total.
[3]  Un-used columns are to allow for later expansion of City's system.
[4]  Any figures in red type (or, if you are looking at this table in black and white, the upper figure when there are two or more figures in a cell) are all incidents recorded by the cameras, and due to time limitations may have been posted only for selected months or locations.  If there is sufficient public interest, the remaining months will be posted.  The figures in black type are what Transol calls Incidents Approved by Police, and are believed to represent the sum of genuine citations issued (those filed with the court) plus any Nominations mailed (not filed with the court, a.k.a. Snitch Tickets).  Figures in blue type (or, if you are looking at this table in black and white, in italic type) are total Citations Paid (at the court), per Transol's invoices to the City.
[5]  Data has been requested but has not yet been received.
[6]  The camera enforcement is on traffic on the first-named street, but the direction of enforcement (north, south, east, west, thru, left) is not yet available.
[7]  These figures cover the first 9 months of 2005.  Month-by-month figures have been requested.
[8]  These figures for Citations Paid are from two invoices from Transol to the City.  One invoice covers Jan. thru June 2005, and the other covers June 24 to Sept. 8, 2005.
