highwayrobbery.net will NEVER be a
                              BBB member!
This logo is found on some of the newer "beat your ticket for a fee" websites.  If you see this logo on a website, click on it to see how long the company has been accredited.
A company obtains BBB accreditation by joining BBB and paying an annual fee.  BBB accreditation does not guarantee quality or results!
highwayrobbery.net is not a member of the BBB.

This is the logo of one of many online forums where you can post your legal questions, and get answers, for free.

This page is by highwayrobbery.net, provider of good - free! - info about California red light camera tickets & photo enforcement.

If you haven't already done so, please read highwayrobbery.net's  Home page.

Listed here are red light camera/photo radar websites not discussed on the Links/Ref/FAQ page.  If you have comments or corrections about one of these sites, please send them.

The "Defense ratings" shown reflect how much help the info on the site will be with your effort to defend your red light camera ticket.

If you want to do some further checking, do a Google on their name, or go to consumer protection sites like RipoffReport.com and search on their complete name - including the .com at the end.

It is a serious ethics violation for a lawyer to guarantee you that he will win your case, so if a particular website or service guarantees a win, that is good sign that there is no lawyer behind them.

For additional info about lawyers, you can look them up at the bar association site http://members.calbar.ca.gov/search/member.aspx

Danger Signs

If you have told the service (a website, a company, or a lawyer) that your ticket is from California, they should quickly instruct you to check to see if it is a fake ticket (Snitch Ticket), or not.
And, if your ticket is from a city in LA County, or from the LA County sheriff, or from the LA County MTA, the service should tell you that there is the
option to ignore it.
If they do not tell you these things, they don't have your best interests at heart and you should look for a different service to help you.

FreeAdvice dot com (includes a forum)

Reviewed:  July 15, 2009.
Defense rating:  Often a waste of time.  Can be rough and tumble, rude.  Many of the "experts" are cops with a thinly disguised pro-camera attitude and a lot of spare time - they will swamp you with extraordinarily long answers.  Unless you are very good at digging out the truth from a pack of lies and deceptions, I highly recommend that you use a different website to look for legal advice.
Geographic focus:  Nationwide.
By:  Advice Company, California.
Primary business:  Lawyer referral.
They will refer you to an attorney, who will want money, or they have a free forum, or community, where you can post a question and get a reply, for free.  To get to the forum, click on the "Community" button, at the top right of the main page.  Then, scroll 3/4 of the way down the forum page, to "Traffic Law."

"Comment:  Before you rely on a database of 6,000 locations you might want to ask where the vendor licensed the database from. There are lots of database thieves who have built derivative databases off photoenforced.com (an open database) without permission. If this source was cut off from them you would be in big trouble getting updates. There are false locations in the [photoenforced] database purposely to catch crooks."

II.  Pay Sites

In my experience, the worst "fly by night" companies are those located in un-incorporated areas (areas without the controls provided by a local city government).  To check to see if the company is located in a city, do a Google on the "city" portion of the company's physical address:  "City of ___________ ."  If the Google search does not come up with an official site for a city of the same name, it is very likely that the company is located in un-incorporated area.  If the company is located in an incorporated city, call city hall and find out if the company has a business license - and for how long.

Many for-profit sites sell radar/GPS systems - with the ticket-fighting advice provided to bring traffic to the site - but I have not rated them for their expertise with those electronic systems, or for the quality of the systems they carry.

For-profit sites - and lawyers - are not likely to tell you that your LA County red light camera ticket can be ignored.

Ticket  Discard sells a Trial by Declaration package.  In general, I think that TBD can be a waste of timeAnd there is the risk of losing the ability to attend Traffic School.
Geographic Focus:  California.  Speaks Chinese.
By:  Kevin.
Primary business:  For $100 you get a Trial by Declaration package, with a money back guarantee.
The site does not discuss "It's Not Me!" tickets.
The site does not warn about Snitch Tickets, and I am aware of an instance where they failed to detect that the client had a Snitch Ticket, and (incorrectly) advised the client to respond to it.  Shortly thereafter, the client received a real ticket.
The site discusses the availability of Traffic School after a loss on a Trial by Declaration, but needs to be clearer about it.

While based in LA County, the site does not discuss the special situation in Los Angeles County.

ticket assassin (out of business)
Reviewed:   Sept. 21, 2008.
Defense rating: Nice-looking website, snappily written, but red light camera defense info is only somewhat useful.
Geographic focus:  California.
By:  A traffic school instructor.
Primary business:  For $30 you get pre-written Trial by Declaration forms for a variety of California Vehicle Code violations, including red light cameras.  The actual defenses are not revealed until you agree to pay, but one of them is that red light cameras are a speed trap.  See FAQ # 24 for my thoughts about that defense.
The site contains "testimonials" from satisfied customers.  However, few are recent or from red light camera ticket defendants.  (As of Dec. 11, 2009 the most recent testimonial was from 2007!)  And, in 2009 I began to receive complaints of ticket assassin taking money but providing little or no service.
